Havre-Saint-Pierre reports a very positive cruise season
Rendez-Vous Minganie reports a very positive 2016 cruise season, which ended this past October 8th.
It was with big smiles on their faces that the passengers of the MS Amadea, the last ship of the season, left Havre-Saint-Pierre, in the presence of the local population who came together for the traditional send-off.
Havre-Saint-Pierre was a port-of-call to six ships this fall, with 3,012 passengers aboard along with 1,693 crew members for a total of 4,705 visitors. Two of these vessels, the “Regatta” of Oceania Cruises and the “Amadea” of Phoenix Reisen, visited for their first time. The “CTMA Vacancier”, “Le Boréal” and the “Marco Polo” are now regulars to our destination.
This season was also marked by two stopovers on the same day in the Port of Havre-Saint-Pierre. It was crucial for the organization to meet this challenge in order to show that the destination has the capacity to accommodate larger ships. Despite the rain, this event was definitely a success. The quality of its infrastructures, unique attractions and warm welcome allows Havre-Saint-Pierre to carve out a place in this competitive industry.
The year 2017 is looking very promising for the destination of Havre-Saint-Pierre with 7 calls planned between June and October. Three new ships are expected, the Europa, the Soléal and the largest yet to visit the port, the “Artania”, transporting 1,200 passengers and 520 crew members. With the expected 5,850 visitors, it looks like it will be a record year.
