Presentation

The wharves at Trois-Rivières are located adjacent to the city's central core, internationally renowned for its originality, and a stone's throw from a classified historic district which played a surprisingly important role in the colonization of Québec. Outside the city, only minutes a way, lies a genuinely enchanting and all but untouched natural playground ever popular with outdoor enthusiasts.

A natural gathering place frequented long before the founding of the city in 1634, the Trois-Rivières delta has served as a crossroads for trade and exchange down through time. Today, the city proudly pursues this well established tradition of hospitality.

The second oldest French-speaking city in North America, Trois-Rivières is home to a remarkable concentration of points of interest for a community its size and lends itself admirably to discovery on foot.

Parisian-style cafés, quaint boutiques, writers' bars, artists' workshops, unconventional museum venues and national historic sites provide for a breadth of local attractions to be enjoyed to the fullest.

Visitors will truly delight in the variety of original, theme-based activities, including the inimitable Promenade de la poésie with over 300 plaques bearing excerpts from Québec love poems. The result is a singular air of poetic spontaneity unexpectedly set against the urban backdrop.

Trois-Rivières is certain to appeal ecotourists given the proximity of Lac Saint-Pierre which has been designated by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve.
