Some amazing visits on tap...
Several newcomers will be débuting on the Saint Lawrence in 2016. Indeed, in addition to the many ships regularly sailing the waters of the Saint Lawrence for a number of years now, no fewer than four new ships will be visiting our shores for the first time.
Among them, the Azamara Quest, the Europa 2, the Viking Star and the Zuiderdam. Every one of these magnificent vessels shares a common trait: they each pride themselves in providing exceptional service.
- Azamara Quest: This ship accommodates some 700 passengers. Arriving from Europe, the Azamara Quest will stop in at the ports of Gaspé, Saguenay, Québec and Montréal, and then continue on to New Orleans.
- Europa 2: This premium luxury vessel, rated '5-star plus’ by Berlitz, belongs to Hapag-Lloyd Group, accommodates a maximum of 500 passengers and will be making stops at Gaspé, Saguenay, Québec and Montréal as part of a 20-day voyage originating in the German port of Hamburg. Upon departure from Montréal, the ship will head to New York.
- Viking Star: The all new Viking Star, owned and operated by Viking Cruises, accommodates just over 900 passengers. Intended for adults only, cruise packages include all port excursions. This season, the Viking Star will be dropping anchor at Saguenay, Québec and Montréal.
- Zuiderdam: This Holland America Line cruise ship accommodates up to 1900 passengers and will be making her début on the Saint Lawrence in 2016, with planned stopovers at Saguenay and Québec on Québec/New York and Québec/Fort Lauderdale travel itineraries.
In addition to these four ships making inaugural voyages to our shores, other cruise lines have expanded their offerings by including additional stopovers on their scheduled sailings. Such is the case, for example, of Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 which, in addition to Québec, will be making first time stops at Saguenay and Gaspé. Following an absence of several years, the SS Mariner, owned and operated by Regent Seven Seas, will be making several Destination Saint Lawrence stops, as will the Amadea chartered by Phoenix Reisen of Germany. Many visiting cruise passengers will therefore enjoy the opportunity to discover the diversity of Destination Saint Lawrence member ports of call.
