At the beginning of the adventure the Îles de la Madeleine in the international cruising world, several investments were made in order to meet the needs of the local community and the tourism industry. CTMA and Escale Îles de la Madeleine collaborated to renovate the cruise terminal and offered better services to the various clienteles. In addition, the Place des gens de mer was financed in the wake of the cruise investments.
Today, the affluence created around the port has allowed the development of the street Chemin du quai where several businesses have been set up over the years. Some stores are dedicated to a touristic clientele, but several businesses have seen the opportunity to set up shop at Cap-aux-Meules and operate year-round for local customers.
The socio-cultural and economic dynamism created by these merchants has been stimulated by the arrival of international cruise ship market. And what can we say about the buildings that have been constructed, which fit in well with the architectural tradition of the Islands!
