Rimouski, 8 September 2022

Cruise the Saint Lawrence proudly announces the appointment of Nancy Houley to the post of Director, Sustainable Development. Over the period of ten years during which she oversaw cruise sector operations and development at the Port of Québec, Ms Houley earned considerable respect and renown in international cruise industry circles. More recently, she chaired a national committee of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) whose work helped spearhead the resumption of passenger cruise operations in Canada.

In her new capacity, Nancy Houley will coordinate implementation of the Cruise the Saint Lawrence sustainable development strategy. Through this innovative strategy, built around 4 key thrusts, 12 goals and over 35 projects, the association will endeavour to create shared value with local communities and industry players, and to reduce, to the maximum extent possible, cruise industry impact on climate change, while protecting host community ecosystems.

As international cruises return to the region in 2022, Cruise the Saint Lawrence seeks to transform the Saint Lawrence into a sustainable destination, and to spur the promotion of local initiatives intended to guarantee passengers a quality, ecoresponsible welcome.

Cruise the Saint Lawrence is an organization which groups together the nine ports of call located along the shores of the Saint Lawrence River. The mission of the organization is to grow cruise market activities in Québec and across Destination Canada New England through the provision of marketing and development services to members. Cruise the Saint Lawrence enjoys the support of partners Tourism Québec, Québec Tourism Industry Alliance and Industry, Science and Economic Development Canada.
